Your Place...
The Stable Place is nature-based and relational, offering a safe, grounded setting that supports emotional regulation, confidence, skill building, and engagement at a pace that feels right for the participant.
Our chief aim is to provide flexible engagement opportunities that suit the individual-needs of our participants
Psychology Services
Psychology at The Stable Place is grounded in trauma-informed care, affirming neurodiversity, and prioritizing participant choice. Support is integrated into real-life and activities rather than confined to clinic rooms, unless preferred.

Our approach emphasizes, lived experiences, and adapts to the participant needs on the day. Participation in psychology services is optional; individuals can enjoy the environment without engaging in clinical supports.
How Psychology Sessions Work at The Stable Place
Participants do not need to book psychology sessions in advance if they are already visiting as part of an NDIS-funded Social and Community Participation package.
Support from a psychologist can occur whenever requested by the participant and/or if a Psychologist or Therapy Assistant detects distress, dysregulation, or identifies a therapeutic opportunity during activities.
This means a psychology "session" could be a brief grounding exercise or an in-depth therapeutic conversation, tailored to the participant's immediate needs. Psychologists offer support only with the participant's consent and if an active Psychology Services Agreement is already in place.
Therapeutic Approaches
Psychological support may incorporate: - Acceptance and Commitment Therapy - Cognitive Behaviour Therapy - Therapy - EMDR - Mindfulness - Psychoeducation - Attachment-focused therapies - Emotional scaffolding and co-regulation - Guided reflection and values-based work. Interventions are seamlessly integrated into natural experiences with people, animals, and the environment, always respecting participant’s pace.
1:1 Psychology Sessions (Without SCCP)
For those who prefer structured appointments, 1-hour dedicated sessions can certainly still be scheduled in advance, allowing for focused therapeutic work, with or without participation in onsite Social and Community activities. Our chief aim is to provide flexible engagement opportunities that suit the individual-needs of our participants.

Collaboration focuses on aligning goals and supports, improving outcomes, and ensuring service consistency and goal attainment.
Increased Social & Community Participation
The Stable Place promotes enhanced social and community engagement through structured, skill-oriented programs aimed at fostering real-world independence, rather than merely accompanying participants in community settings.
Our clinicians and specialised support staff use evidence-based, capacity-building approaches to help participants develop social confidence, emotional regulation, community safety skills, decision-making and communication.
Support is provided through targeted, goal-oriented activities in a working hobby farm environment. Participants can acquire and practice essential skills to engage, confidently, and independently in daily community life while enjoying the company of our many farm animal friends.
Each ISCP program at The Stable Place is customized to align with the participant’s NDIS goals and may encompass social skills training, graded exposure activities, problem-solving in community situations, independent travel training, capacity-building outdoor programs, structured involvement in interest-based groups, and pathways toward volunteering, paid-work or increased community engagement.
The overarching aim remains consistent: fostering progressive independence, enhancing personal capacity, and facilitating meaningful community participation provided with clinical oversight, behavioural expertise, and a nurturing, safe and inclusive environment that encourages growth.
Behaviour Support (Improved Relationships)
Behaviour Support, delivered by a Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner and Certified Behaviour Analyst, can include:
-
Functional Behaviour Assessments
-
Behaviour Support Plan development (Positive Behaviour Support)
-
Caregiver training and consultation
-
Behavioural assessments and reporting
Our Behaviour Practitioners are Masters degree qualified Certified Behaviour Analysts as well as being Registered Psychologists. They have studied Positive Behaviour Support practices with internationally renowned behaviour analysts such as Dr Gary LaVigna, Dr Greg Hanley and Dr Patrick McGreevy.

Our Practitioner's are endorsed at Specialist and Advanced levels and particularly skilled in functional assessment of extremely complex and challenging behaviour as well as removal of restrictive practices.
Clinic-Based Psychology and Counselling Support
Participants can also choose traditional, office-based Psychology or Counselling sessions. These sessions offer a private, predictable environment ideal for structured therapy, assessment, or participants who benefit from quieter clinical spaces. Clinic-based work can complement nature-based sessions or stand alone. Psychology is also available under Medicare via a Mental Health Care Plan (a gap fee may be charged for private psychology sessions under Medicare).
Billing Structure for Therapeutic and Capacity Building Support
Psychology and/or Behaviour Support services and/or Increased Community Participation services are billed separately from NDIS-funded Social and Community Participation (Core) and can be billed in as small as (15-minute) increments when required and when participant consent is established.

Billable time with therapists does not need to be set in minimum 1 hour sessions and, instead, may include:
-
Direct therapeutic interaction with a therapist for 15 minutes during a visit
-
Brief emotional-regulation support from a Psychologist during a visit
-
Collaboration with other professionals remote or in person, attending case meetings after conducting assessments and/or observations in-vivo
-
Clinical notes and documentation required for providing evidence to NDIS for plan reviews
This flexible billing structure lets participants access the support they need when it’s actually needed and therapeutic engagement can occur opportunistically and flexibly and aligned to the individual needs of the participant - rather than only when a traditional appointment is scheduled.
